When it comes to diet, nutrition is the key factor relative to healthy aging. Nutrients are critical to human health. You essentially need protein, carbs, minerals, oils, fats and vitamins.

Good eating habits also help control blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Essentially nutrition is the study of everything related to food which covers anything from food preparation to its consumption. It also covers how the body handles food.

Wellness is mainly considered as a holistic concept, holistic in the sense that it covers physical, spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, and environmental dimensions.

As a consequence wellness is about looking at the total picture such as blood pressure, body fat, exercise behavior or what you eat on a daily basis. Health and wellness is about balance.

Diet basically refers to what you eat. Often when we hear the term diet we tend to think weight loss, in other words eating less food in order to lose weight. Diet not only refers to food it also refers to liquid. Drinking water is part of your diet.

When it comes to altering your diet as in the amount you eat and what you eat it is always wise to make small incremental changes. As we all know what you eat and how much you eat plays a significant role when it comes to weight loss.

Fitness also covers the subject of nutrition.

“We found dramatic increase in body fat between ages three and six”, said Dr Robert Berkowitz, who led the study. As per the US researchers, children of overweight mothers are 15 times more likely to be obese by the age of 6 than the children of lean mothers.

His team is now working on the eating and exercise habits of the families they studied but said genes undoubtly play an important role as per other studies which cant be ignored and the biggest evidence is the dramatic spike in weight between ages 3 and 6.” this suggests that some genes controlling body weight may become active during this period”, added Berkowitz.

According to his study, one-third of the children of over-weight women gained weight quickly after turning 3. Of the 37 children of healthy weight women, only one became overweight. ” The lean group stays lean but this high risk group really takes off.”

Results and studies at US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says 15% of U.S. children are overweight and more than 60% of adults are overweight or obese. Reuters

Obesity in America — The Growing Epidemic!

Executive Sumary about Child Obesity by Shelley Hitz
Obesity is a disease that affects approximately 60 million people in the United States, where women are especially affected. An obese person has a surplus of body fat. Most health professionals concur that a man is obese if he has over 25 percent body fat, and a woman is obese if she has over 30 percent.

Women physiologically have more body fat than men, so that why there’s a difference in percentage.

You can also use a small device that sends a harmless electrical current through your body and measures your body fat percentage. A person with a BMI over 30 is considered to be obese, and a BMI over 40 is considered to be severely obese.

With obesity, comes the increased risk of diseases such as high blood pressure, Type II Diabetes, heart disease, and breast, colon, and prostate cancer. Health experts say that even losing 10 to 15 percent of your body weight can dramatically decrease the risk of developing these serious conditions.

In addition, many obese people are discriminated against and targets of insults and other verbal abuse.

A number of factors, such as poor diet, lack of physical activity, genetics, and certain medical disorders, cause obesity, but it can be conquered.

Children For Adoption

With all of the children waiting for adoption world wide, anyone who wants to become a parent has many different choices available.

The Internet has created an incredible resource in the area of adoption. Many organizations that help place children have details regarding children waiting for a permanent home.

This is particularly helpful for individuals interested in adopting a child from another part of the world. In almost every community there are children waiting for parents. For a family looking for a child who speaks the same language and is familiar with the area, local adoption is a great approach.

Older children are generally also harder to place. Sometimes there is a wait of several years for a baby, yet many older children waiting for adoption are available. Older children waiting for adoption are eager to find parents to love them and they have a great deal to contribute to the relationship as well.

Becoming a foster parent and then an adoptive parent can completely transform the lives of both the adult and the children waiting for adoption. Creating a family is an incredible experience and regardless if it’s a newborn baby or a ten-year-old, when children waiting for adoption find a home, everyone involved understands that miracles do happen.

Adoption - A Positive Option

Executive Sumary about Children For Adoption By Michael Russell

Over the years, the amount of children that are available for adoption has decreased. There are many reasons a family or individual might have for adopting a child. For couples that are infertile, adoption is one of the only ways these couples can raise children.

Same sex couples often consider adoption. There are many reasons children are placed for adoption. Some cultures look down upon single parenting and the natural parent feels pressured to place the child for adoption.

Other families place their children for adoption because of gender preference. Other families that are capable of reproducing choose to adopt a child because they feel it is more responsible for them to provide a parent-less child with a family.

The cost of adoption can vary widely depending on the situation. Welfare adoptions, such as adoptions that take place as a result of neglectful or abusive natural parents, resulting in a termination of parental rights, can be considerably less expensive than some other adoptions.

The adoption of minorities can also cost less. Caucasian families often prefer to adopt Caucasian children, rather than African American or Hispanic children. As a result, the cost of adopting children belonging to a minority is significantly less than the cost of adopting white children.

This is meant to encourage the adoption of children of all races. Special needs children are also less costly to adopt. Not every individual or couple is qualified to adopt a child.

When a couple or individual applies for adoption, they must undergo an assessment of suitability. Some regions require the adoption be undergone privately, while others allow the use of adoption agencies.
